One of the true living legends left in the music industry, she’s received 18 Grammy Awards, and 100 (yes, 100) Top 100 Billboard Hits in her career. She is also the first ever woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She has performed at three presidential inaugurations for Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. She has 3 honorary degrees from Yale and Berklee College of Music. Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul, and nobody, can take that throne from her. This R&B/Soul icon was born into a musically religious family, where she sang in churches and toured with her father while he preached sermons across the U.S. She made her first recording deal when she was only a teenager, and from an early age knew she wanted to tackle multiple genres of music. Her idols include Mahalia Jackson, Clara Ward, Dinah Washington and Sam Cooke.
