Ep. 10 Jimi Hendrix

Johnny Allen Hendrix (James Marshal “Jimi” Hendrix)

·      Born November 27, 1942

·      Died September 18, 1970

Jimi Hendrix started playing guitar at age 15 and by the time of his death, was the highest paid musician on the planet. His crazy antics on stage and original sound style was something the world had never seen before. Known for playing his Fender Stratocaster backwards, upside down, behind his head, or with his teeth, Jimi changed the way Rock & Roll was supposed to sound. His rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at 1969’s Woodstock was as controversial as it was bone-chilling. Some of his most well-known tracks ‘All Along the Watchtower’, ‘Hey Joe’, and ‘Purple Haze’ will always be Auideo Show favorites. His death in 1970 was the result of a vomit educed, sleeping pill overdosed accident.
