David Guetta’s a Busy Man with his Latest Album Release
’’7 represents a full cycle to me and that’s why I wanted to go back to the beginning of the cycle.”
-David Guetta Interview with BBC’s Pete Tong
David Guetta releases a whopping 24-track, double album ‘7’ this New Music Friday. Its the electronic artist’s latest album release since 2014.
This first disc is a track list of staple Guetta sounds and melodies, completed with a guest list of talented vocal and electronic veterans, like Sia, G-Eazy, Jason Derulo, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and many more. He also showcases a number of up and coming artists in the industry, such as English singer-songwriter Anne-Marie, rapper Saweetie, and South African producer Black Coffee. A lot of these first album bangers might sound familiar, because some of them have been released prior to the album release, like the Justin Bieber collaborative song, ‘2U’, and ‘Flames’ with Sia.
The second part of the album is like going to a David Guetta after-hours dance party. The French producer takes a hard dive into his roots of house and techno, and releases 12 tracks using the strange alias, Jack Back. With that, though, he relaunched a label and released the ‘Jack Back Mixtapes’ on the 6th of September, sort of being an additional mixtrack for ‘7’. In an interview, Guetta had this to say about the B side of his album:
“I originally started in underground house music, playing all the raves and underground clubs in Paris. I wanted to make music just for fun, with absolutely no commercial approach to it. I want to make every type of music that I like, I’m doing it for the love of music.’’
