Being the first musicians we've had the privilege to talk to from another country, to say we were excited to meet the trio from New Zealand is an understatement. Alex, Allister, and Jayden make up the group Alae, and they have much more than their hometown set in their sights.
Their debut, self-titled EP was self funded and released in 2016. Being just a duo at the time, Alex & Allister released those first 6 tracks with 6 accompanying music videos. Their folk infused sound has garnered the attention of many around the world, 81,000 Spotify listeners and 2 million streams to be exact.
Jayden joined the group in 2017 and they soon released their newest singles, From 1 to 3 and Too Strung Up. With the new album set for release in March/April and a tour to follow, Alae took some time out of their busy schedules to talk to us about their beginning, New Zealand culture, and what we can expect from them in 2018.
